How are people this ignorant

I'm not going to be a huge political debater and start going into rants and stuff, but one thing that disguts me is how the apparent, potential presidential candidate for 2012, Sarah Palin

(Oh, wait, that's Tina Fey)

Is taking such a huge stance against Section 1233 of of HR3200. (If you don't know what it is, go to opencongress.org. You can read the whole proposed bill there.)

I read it, and i'm not the most legal person ever, but the language seems to be pretty clear, and it talks about physicians consulting with their patients every 5 years about end-of-life treatment, not the actual END of your life. This means, and it's in the bill, that physicians (and I think other healthcare providers) can talk about living wills, hospicies, life sustaining orders, health proxies, resources, etc that patients SHOULD know about in order to make informed decisions and be prepared.

The whole goal of health reform is to obviously provide healthcare for everyone, and hopefully lower healthcare costs.

However, according to Palin and other people this means "pulling the plug on grandma" since old people will die anyway, why should we waste money on them.

According to them, it means that physicians will try and convince their patients (and one day mine) to end their lives so that we don't have to give them health care anymore. That we will "coerce" them into accepting minimal end-of-life care. I am insulted at this is an attack on my profession. That the entire system of health care providers is filled with people who will choose money over a patient's well-being (I'm not naive, and know there are exceptions to every rule).

The thought is that we are essentially creating "death panels" where the elderly, sick, and disabled, including Sarah Palin's own Down Syndromatic son (I love how she made a plug to connect with the American people) will have to face to see if they are worth keeping alive. The members of the Six Feet Underground Panel deem you useless to society. Baliff, please put a bullet in her head!

And of course people believe what she says. I don't want to say they are idiots, but they have this belief that Obama is now a tyrant ...

who is taking away our rights. Now, I'm not all into politics... but if there is one thing I know is that health care SHOULD be a right. However, some people think that things are fine as they are. I saw a comment on the bill's website with a poster saying that everyone who wants healthcare can get it, and anyone who needs medicine can get it, with or without money (paraphrase). Alright, fine. Yes, I think they are idiots.

Apparently, a man's plan to give every American the accessibility to health care in order to be healthy in order to enjoy our Constitutional rights (which people love to use against Obama) of life libery, and the pursuit of happiness, is evil and will eventually control our every action.. and turn us into Russia. Well, they have vodka.

But hey, I'm just a kid who grew up in a family without health insurance and had to play eenie, meenie, miny mo on which prescriptions mommy should TRY to buy. What do i know?

Will post soon

I will start posting again now that school has started and I am most productive at hobbies and interests (procrastinating) when I have to do school work.

And it's Orientation week, so it's a pretty long week.
